When people find out that I’ve lost weight, they always ask how I did it, and what kind of foods I eat. Here is a list of some of the food and snacks I eat in order to maintain my weight. My food philosophy is pretty simple…I try to eat as healthy as possible and avoid high fat foods. I don’t consume any red meat or pork. I’m in the process of becoming a pescetarian because I’m currently struggling with the concept of factory farming. I haven’t eaten chicken or turkey since April 9, 2010.

  • 1 egg in the microwave on a light english muffin and 1 wedge of laughing cow cheese
  • A breakfast cookie and protein smoothie
  • Toast with almond butter and a banana

  • A fresh spinach salad with feta or goat cheese, light raspberry vinaigrette, craisins, and walnuts with assorted veggies/beans thrown in when I have them
  • V8 veggie soup
  • Healthy Choice vegetable barley or lentil Soup
  • Morning Star Farms veggie burgers/”chicken” patties with 100 calorie Sandwich Thins, and a slice of reduced fat American cheese

  • Fruit
  • Veggies
  • Fiber Plus bar
  • Luna Bar (before or after workouts)
  • Protein smoothie
  • Banana with almond butter or dark chocolate dreams peanut butter
  • Banana frozen yogurt
  • Dark chocolate
  • Sugar free pudding/jello cup

  • Sugar free applesauce
  • A Green Monster
  • Edie’s 1/2 the fat ice cream or Edie’s yogurt blends

Obviously, I have bad eating days like anyone else. The above list includes things I eat often, but my diet varies from time to time. When I eat out I try to order a healthy entree if I want to indulge in dessert. I avoid anything with cream sauces and anything fried, and I try to swap out fries with veggies or fruit when I can!  If I go out for ice cream I usually order frozen yogurt instead. The bottom line is…I LOVE FOOD and I’ve learned to deal with it by limiting my intake of sugars, sweets and high fat foods and that when I do have them, it is a treat!
